Laura-Ann Barr is no stranger to the odd royal faux pas having met the Queen at a Buckingham Palace garden party and Meghan Markle before she married Prince Harry

A royal fan who once panic-lied to Meghan Markle and broke royal protocol when she met the Queen has now confused Prince Charles into sniffing an artificial bunch of flowers.

Laura-Ann Barr managed to be at the front of the crowds as Prince Charles and wife Camilla visited east Belfast yesterday.

Having met the Queen, Kate Middleton and Meghan in the past the mum-of-three knew she had a better chance of meeting them if she brought something for the visitors.

Laura-Ann, who was with mum Heather and baby Barney, told the Mirror: “It’s my little tip. The royals are more likely to come over to you have something for them.

“It’s a conversation piece, rather than them just saying hello and walking on.”

Laura-Ann can be heard in her Instagram video telling Charles they were for Camilla.

As she shakes hands and offers the flowers Laura-Ann said: “Hello, it’s a pleasure to meet you, I’m Laura and these are for yourself and Camilla.”

The future King looks around for his wife, who is further along with other well-wishes, as Laura-Ann adds: “There’s some Lily of the Valley, I’ve heard it’s Her Majesty the Queen’s favorite flower so we brought it out for her Jubilee.”

Charles goes in for a sniff, only for Laura-Ann to add “They’re actually artificial” only for the Prince and her to share a laugh together.

He soon made his mistake

Back in June 2019 she broke royal protocol when attending a Buckingham Palace garden party as her mum’s plus one, by giving the Queen some flowers.

She got a telling off from the Queen’s lady-in-waiting and made headlines around the world.

The Queen’s aid scolded Laura-Ann, telling her: “It’s easier for me to carry them, then the Queen can have them when she goes indoors.”

But Laura-Ann was in such shock that she could barely speak as well-wishers soon gathered round to congratulate her.

She said giving the Queen the flowers was a “life highlight”.

She added: “She doesn’t like phones! So I put mine down at my feet before she came. Thankfully my mummy got a video and the girl to the left of me got some photos. It was just amazing!”

And in December Laura-Ann, who has owns artificial flower company Little Buds, released an old video of the time she panic-lied to Meghan when she was asked if the posy she had given were from her garden.

Without thinking Laura-Ann said yes and laughed along, but admitted they were actually from Tesco and she had simply added the tinfoil.
