Kate Middleton hands out Christmas presents to families affected by Grenfell fire

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be sending Christmas gifts to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children despite their rift, according to a royal expert.

Archie and Lilibet are likely to spend the festive season in California with their parents while William and Kate will be at Sandringham with their children George, Charlotte and Louis.

In recent months, much has been made of the rift between brothers William and Harry and in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, Harry claimed William was “trapped” within the royal system – which is said to have left William furious.

Since Harry and Meghan quit as senior royals and moved to the US last year, Harry has only seen his brother twice – at the funeral of Prince Philip and at the unveiling of a statue of their mother Princess Diana.

William and Kate are also yet to meet their niece Lilibet, who was born in June, in person.

But when OK! magazine asked royal expert and author Katie Nicholl if William and Kate would be buying Christmas gifts to send to America for Archie and Lilibet, she said: “Yes, of course.

“They give gifts to the whole family and that includes all of their nieces and nephews.”

This means also buying presents for Kate’s sister Pippa’s children – three-year-old Arthur and eight-month-old Grace.

Meanwhile, last week it was reported that the Queen was looking forward to Christmas and her traditional family festive get together at her Norfolk estate of Sandringham.

It is understood the Queen will travel to Sandringham on or around Friday, December 17.

Christmas guests will include Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall as well as William, Kate and their children and Prince Edward, Sophie Wessex and their children.

It has been claimed that Harry and Meghan were invited to join the rest of the family on what will be the Queen’s first Christmas since the death of her beloved husband Prince Philip.

But a source told Page Six: “There’s a lot that goes into the logistics and the planning of the family Christmas, so of course, staff know that Harry and Meghan are not coming.

“If they were, they would have communicated it to their family by now.

“But this is Her Majesty’s first Christmas without her husband, so one would have hoped they would want to be with her.”

The Sussexes have not commented on the claims.
