Coronation Street actor Simon Gregson only entered the Welsh Castle a few days ago – and he’s loving life as one of the Lords of the castle
Coronation Street star Simon Gregson was one of the late arrivals for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and seems to be settling in well.
The actor entered the Welsh Castle a few days into the show alongside EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt where they have both been names the Lords of the castle.
The pair are receiving special treatment from the other campmates so far but it’s not known how long this will last.
Both of them had to compete in a trial as soon as they arrived but they managed to earn a decent meal for their fellow celeb contestants.
But what did Simon do before the ITV show?
Simon was born on October 2, 1974 and was named Simon Alan Gregory, changing his name to Gregson when he launched his acting career.
While he was a student at The Kingsway School in Stockport back in 1989, Simon entered a search for new cast members to join ITV soap Coronation Street as the McDonald twins.
Nicholas Cochrane landed the other role as Andy McDonald after the pair were chosen due to having the same height, build and hair colouring.
Simon was initially credited under his real name, but later adopted the stage name Gregson because another celeb was already called Simon Gregory.
Simon’s first appearance on Coronation Street was back on December 6, 1989.
He has been a regular cast member ever since, apart from a break that was announced on September 19, 2015.
And he’s admitted that he didn’t always spend his wages wisely.
Back in 2014 he told The Mirror : “Me and my mates would get dangerously drunk. We were really stupid.
“I went completely wild. I’d pay for everyone to stay in hotel suites. I’d go through a bottle of Scotch at 4 or 5am after the pub. I was spending all my salary going out or on cars.
“Sometimes I’d be two hours late for work. Other times I’d not be there at all. I didn’t take it seriously and I didn’t want to be there.
“I hated being famous. I’m not proud of my behaviour, but getting wasted was a way of forgetting.”
Simon was written out of the soap for a year while he recovered from this.
According to Heart due to his long soap career, Simon is believed to have a net worth of around £1million.
It’s reported he earns about £150,000 a year for his role as Steve McDonald.
Simon has been married to his wife Emma Gleave since 2010.
Emma tends to stay out of the spotlight herself however she has supported her husband Simon at a number of award events and stood alongside him on All Star Family Fortunes.
The pair have three children together, their eldest is son Alfie, 14, then they have Harry, 12 and youngest son, Henry, five.
