the masked singer viewers are putting on their best detective skills to find out who is behind Rockhopper’s costume.
The reality series returned to our screens on New Year’s Day, with a new batch of celebrities performing from inside bizarre giant costumes in an attempt to outwit judges Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan.
Rockhopper is among the contestants set to compete in the 2022 series, along with Mushroom, Bagpipes, Lionfish, Donuts, Traffic Cone, Panda, Firework, Poodle, and Robobunny.
In the first week, Rockhopper performed “Higher Love” by Steve Winwood. We learned that Rockhopper is a great artist, they are related to the circus, they can have an American accent and they have the ability to jump. They also “made headlines for being firsts” and there were mentions of the “greatest show”.
One fan theory that circulated online was that Zendaya is hiding under the costume, as the actor starred in The greatest showman.
Ora was convinced that Rockhopper was also Zendaya, and it was thought that the clue hinting at the star’s ability to jump might tie in with Zendaya’s boyfriend, Spider-Man star Tom Holland.
On Saturday (Jan 15), Rockhopper’s VT continued on the circus theme, saying they’ve “never been one to stir up a riot.” However, they added that they were “no stranger to giving my opinion” and liked to help people, leading the judges to theorize that they might be podcast hosts.
After an impressive rendition of Amy Winehouse’s “Love is a Losing Game,” the judges were convinced that Rockhopper was a singer, while their accent seemed to hint that they were Scandinavian. McCall thought she was Zara Larsson, while Gilligan went for Robyn.
Ross guessed Fearne Cotton while Ora thought Jamelia was behind the mask.
After Rockhopper’s performance of Miley Cyrus’ “Edge of Midnight” on January 22, viewers were convinced that the name behind the mask is Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams.

The clues included a series of photos of William Shatner, William Shakespeare and Prince William, all pointing viewers to William’s name.
Other clues from January 29 included mentions of retail therapy and power outages, which in turn were highlighted as potentially linking to Pussycat Dolls songs. With this in mind, Nicole Scherzinger was a guess made by the judges.
However, it is pointed out that Jonathan Ross’s guess about Ellie Goulding might have some credibility; the baritian singer has a track called “Electricidad”.
One viewer said: “Ahh, ‘Williams’ sounds true to the people on Twitter saying she’s Michelle from Destiny’s Child.”
Another wrote: “If you haven’t clicked Rockhopper is Michelle Williams from Destiny’s Child from tonight’s clues, I don’t know how to help you.”
According to Betfair, it is more likely that Williams will be revealed to be Rockhopper. You can see the odds below.
Michelle Williams: 8/15
Robyn – 5/2
Zara Larsson – 3/1
the masked singer continues on Saturdays at 7 pm on ITV.
