We simulated Man United vs Norwich City to get a score prediction

Manchester United will be looking to keep their top four hopes alive on Saturday when they host bottom of the league Norwich City in the Premier League.

A poor run of results has seen United win just one of their last five Premier League games, leaving Ralf Rangnick’s side six points adrift of the top four. A win for United could potentially put them level on points with Arsenal and West Ham and three behind Spurs in fourth if results go their way, with the chances of earning a Champions League spot not over yet.

United were heavily slated for a lackluster performance in their 1-0 defeat to relegation battling Everton, with a much-improved performance needed against Norwich. Fred was forced off with an injury against the Toffees, and the Brazilian will now miss the clash with Norwich.

Fred will join United’s lengthy injury list, with Scott McTominay, Raphael Varane, Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw all sidelined for Saturday. So, what line-ups will both teams select? And, what could the final score be?

To find out, we used FIFA 22 to get a score prediction for Manchester United vs Norwich on Saturday. This is what happened.

Man United vs Norwich City score predicted by simulation

To get a score prediction, we used kick-off mode in FIFA 22, but didn’t select a team to control, letting the AI play against each other. We then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself.

We predict that United could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles; Matic, Pogba; Elanga, Fernandes, Sancho; Ronaldo.

Man United’s predicted XI vs Norwich City

We predict that the Canaries could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Krul, Byram, Hanley, Gibson, Giannoulis; McLean, Normann; Dowell, Lees-Melou, Rashica; Pukki.

It was a slow start at Old Trafford from both sides in the simulation, with neither team able to find any clear sights of goal. United held possession for the majority of the first-half, but they were unable to create any chances, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes coming closest with long-range efforts that flew over the bar.

The second half saw United look more dangerous in the final third, with Anthony Elanga and Jadon Sancho’s decisive passing helping Rangnick’s side find some openings in the Norwich box. The latter was United’s brightest spark in a dull affair, and Sancho found the opener via a deflection.

United’s patience build-up play around the Norwich box paid off, with Sancho managing to open up a shot on goal and find the net. The winger cut in from the left until an opening appeared, and his curling effort towards the right of the goal was blocked by Ben Gibson, deflecting his effort into the left side of the goal and evading the wrong footed Tim Krul.

With Norwich sitting bottom of the league, the Canaries knew they couldn’t sit back and lose the game without a fight. Dean Smith’s side started to push forward with intent after the United goal, but it only seemed to allow United to look more dangerous in attack.

With Norwich no longer sitting back, United could attack in more space going forward, with Ronaldo managing to register a few shots on goal. The 36-year-old came closest when he curled an effort inside the box towards the near post, but Krul made a fantastic save to deny the Portugal international.

Despite their attempts to push forward, Norwich failed to trouble United, with De Gea only forced into making two simple saves throughout the game. United held out for the 1-0 win, a vital victory in their top four battle.
