We simulated Man City vs Newcastle to get a score prediction amid Liverpool title race

Manchester City turn their focus back to the Premier League title race after suffering Champions League heartbreak against Real Madrid in midweek.

City were dumped out of the Champions League after losing 6-5 on aggregate to Real Madrid in the semi-final. Guardiola’s side can now only win the Premier League this season and head into the weekend a single point ahead of rivals Liverpool.

Kyle Walker is a doubt for the game against Newcastle at the weekend after coming off with an injury against Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. Guardiola revealed in his press conference ahead of the game against the Magpies that Kevin De Bruyne will be available for selection and that the Belgian’s substitution against Madrid was purely tactical.

We used kick-off mode in FIFA 22, but didn’t select a team to control, we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a score prediction.

Guardiola’s side responded well as Gundogan leveled the score in the 24th minute after the German fired home from close range with City increasing the tempo and finding their rhythm. Joao Cancelo ran down the right wing and was found by De Bruyne in a good crossing position.

The Portuguese defender drilled the ball into the box towards Mahrez who flicked the ball on to find Gundogan in space. The German midfielder volleyed the ball first time into the back of the Newcastle net as Dubravka scrambled across his goal but was unable to reach the shot.

City took control of the game and soon found the lead through Riyad Mahrez after the Algerian winger was played through by De Bruyne and drilled the ball home at the near post. Ederson bowled the ball out to Dias who drove forward and moved the attack higher up the pitch before drilling the ball into the Belgian playmaker’s feet on the edge of the penalty box.

De Bruyne beat Shelvey with some nice footwork as Mahrez ran in behind Targett with the ball being perfectly weighted into his path to take the shot first time. Mahrez’s accuracy and power caught Dubravka out in the Newcastle net as the ball squeezed inside the near post and into the goal as City took a 2-1 lead on the stroke of half time.
