University of Stirling announces return to in-person graduations after Covid break

Students at the University of Stirling will finally have the chance to celebrate their studies as it confirmed a return to in-person graduations.

Ceremonies have been put on hold for the past several years due to restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, but the big event on the university calendar will return with a ceremony in early April for those graduating from one-year programs.

The summer graduation program kicks off during the week of June 21-27 and those who completed their studies in 2020 and 2021 finally had a chance to celebrate their achievements properly.

After that, the 2022 intake will receive their awards on June 29 and 30.

Winter graduations will also return, with the 2022 intake having the opportunity to celebrate on November 24-25.

The ceremonies are the first to be held on campus since November 2019, and those graduating in April and those in the 2020 and 2021 cohort who expressed interest in attending a future event will receive their invitations later this month. .

Professor Sir Gerry McCormac, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Stirling, said: “Graduation is the highlight of the university calendar, a time when we all pause to celebrate the achievements of our graduates with their families and friends.

“I am delighted to confirm that graduations are planned for 2022, and we look forward to welcoming this year’s graduates, as well as those of 2020 and 2021, to campus to recognize this special moment.

“While we have marked graduations for the past two years, the pandemic has prevented us from holding in-person ceremonies.

June graduates will receive their invitations in March and November graduates will receive theirs in September.

University directors also warned attendees not to make travel arrangements until invitations are formally sent out and reiterated that all events were subject to Scottish Government and public health advice.
