Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary were surprised to discover how people could be earning extra cash through simply having a sticker in their cars or spotting an empty home.
The hosting duo were back at the helm of the ITV daytime show for a second time this week on Friday (April 22). They were once again joined on the last edition of the program of the week by coupon queen Holly Smith who was on hand to share some more money-saving deals and ways to make some extra cash.
But when it came to the latter, there were two ways to make money that surprised Alison and Dermot – being paid £100 a month to advertise on your car to being paid up to £10,000 for spotting derelict buildings.

“There are lots of ways that people can make money and the first one is for advertising on your car,” mum-of-four Holly said. “So this is really easy – there’s several websites you can sign up to. Two of my personal favorites are Car Quids and Adverttu.
“All you do is sign up, put all your details and then they’ll pair you up with an advertiser. As soon as you’re paired up with an advertiser you’ll go to a fitting center and they’ll put a vinyl sticker on your car…”
Interrupting, Alison said: “Are you joking?” as Holly continued on: “And you can get paid up to £100 a month.” Dermot then said: “What,” as Alison said that it was “brilliant.”
Explaining further, Holly said: “You go to a proper fitting centre, they put it all on, and when it’s ready to removed they’ll take it off for you.” When Alison asked whether you would be able to decide what you’re advertising, Holly replied: “If it’s something you don’t agree with, you can turn it down. But there’s lots of different options and it’s all based on where you live.” as well.If you live in a city, you might get a local advertiser…”
It was then time to move on with Dermot saying that he had “no idea” that you could earn money from finding empty houses. “So there’s a company called YouSpotProperty,” Holly explained. “What they basically do is they want you to find empty properties so they can buy them and resell them for a profit.
“So what they do is they rely on the public to go out and find derelict or empty houses. So if you’ve got an empty house on your street that has been empty for a while [not for sale]… so if you go on a walk and spot any houses that are empty.
“All you have to do is if you’re the first person to report it to YouSpotProperty, you get to choose between a £20 Amazon or M&S voucher. But not only that – if they go on to buy that house and sell it, you get 1% of the value.”
She continued: “Now, there’s a great story to this – there was a guy who was sitting in traffic one day, his name’s Paul Wood, and he was sitting in traffic and he spotted an empty house so he thought, ‘When I get home I’m going to report that to YouSpotProperty to get my £20 voucher.
“They went on to buy that property and went on to sell that property for £1million and he got a check for £10,000! So yeah, you can get up to £10,000 for finding empty properties.”
