Dovestone, part of the Peak District National Park and set amongst the Saddleworth moors, is a popular and easy option for families looking for a day out.
The reservoir offers tranquil spots for exploration, as well as trails for biking, horseback riding, and even boating.
Families will find plenty of nature and wildlife on the trails, as well as the occasional sheep, wild mountain hare or bird of prey.
During peak hours, the reservoir can get quite busy, so be sure to plan your visit in advance.

Discover Animals at Lancaster Park & Animal Farm

With over 200 animals housed in a picturesque landscape nestled in the Irk River Valley, Lancaster Park & Animal Farm is a kid-friendly area where you and your children can learn more about and engage with all kinds of animals.
Spread over 35 acres of land, the farm offers a variety of activities including a barn where you and your kids can pet an animal of your choice.
Other activities include handling smaller animals and even getting a chance to bathe a turtle; There is also food available for purchase which you can feed to the many animals in the area.
If your child gets a little tired of the animals and fancy a break, they can head to the farm’s large play area with swings, slides and even zip lines.

Catch a play at the Oldham Coliseum Theater

Oldham Coliseum Theater is located in the heart of Oldham and has a history dating back to 1885.
The Theater presents a variety of shows and plays, including traditional panto, so there is sure to be something you and your child can sit down and enjoy together.
There is always a variety of shows on the Coliseum Theater schedule and there will almost always be a play or panto on any day of the week for the family to enjoy.
The Colosseum has also recently undergone a £1.5m refurbishment which has made the seats more comfortable while adding heating and new fixtures.

Racing together at Stonerig Raceway
Stonerig Raceway gives adults and children the chance to experience the adrenaline rush of being in an F1 race car with its Scalextric racing facility.
Scalextric is essentially controlling a small electric car with a controller on a designed race track – Stonerig takes this idea and exemplifies it.
All of the tracks available at the venue are decorated with great detail and effort to help create an immersive racing experience.
Stonerig currently has five large rinks available for rent.
