Llarena has summoned for this Friday the probable new candidate Jordi Turull, and another five investigated in the case that instructs against the independence process in Catalonia.

The Supreme court will communicate to those involved in the ‘process’ the Processing cars next Friday at 10:30 a.m.. In a ruling issued this Wednesday, the magistrate wants them to also appear, accompanied by their lawyer, Carms Forcadell, Marta Rovira, Raül Romeva, Josep Rull and Dolors Bassa. All of them, like Jordi Turull, are members of Parliament.

Likewise, the instructor cites for the same day and at the same time all the parties involved in the cause of the ‘procés’. In this way, the representatives of the 28 investigated, Besides the Prosecutor’s office, the popular accusation that represents the vox party and the State advocacy.

The indictment is issued to put in order the account of the facts made by the investigating judge of a case after the investigation, specifying in it the people he is accusing and of what crimes he is accusing. However, this does not mean that the investigation has ended, since the magistrate can issue an indictment at any stage of the process.

As for the six investigated that the instructor has also cited for this Friday, the judge does not explain in his ruling the reasons for practicing the “appearance provided for in article 505 of the Criminal Procedure Law, that is, what is known as “vistilla”, a hearing in which the Prosecutor’s Office and the accusing parties may request that a provisional prison or provisional release with bail be decreed.

Members of Parliament

Forcadell, Rovira, Turull, Romeva, Rull and Bassa are all deputies of the Catalan Parliament and, therefore, possible candidates for the Presidency of the Generalitat. In fact, Jordi Turull was emerging as the new candidate proposed by JuntsxCat after Jordi Sánchez announced his resignation yesterday after appearing precisely before Judge Llarena.

Article 384 bis of the Criminal Procedure Law provides for the disqualification of public positions charged with rebellion if, at the end of the investigation of the case and the issuance of a final indictment, the provisional imprisonment measure has been decreed against them.

In the case of the six mentioned, who have different precautionary measures applied after appearing before the instructor, the judge could order their entry into provisional prison this Friday, but for the moment the disqualification could not be carried out, since the car is not final until all the appeals that may be presented are resolved, both by the defendants and the accusations. The six investigated cited on Friday have already appeared before Llarena throughout the instruction.

In the case of Turull, Rull, Romeva and Bassa, the four spent a month in provisional prison last fall, first issued by the National High Court. They were released by Llarena when the case went to the Supreme Court on bail of 100,000 euros.

For her part, Carme Forcadell spent a night in jail, since the judge decreed an avoidable prison with bail of 150,000 euros on the night of November 9, 2017 and the former president of the Parliament made the payment of the bail effective the following morning. As for Rovira, he appeared in high court on February 19 and Llarena ordered bail of 60,000 euros.
