Although the rainfall will subside today, the meteorological agencies have forecast a lot of rain and wind for the weekend, which will continue during the first days of next week.
Rain, wind and cool temperatures will be the protagonists of the weekend and the next holidays, according to the predictions of Euskalmet, the Basque Meteorological Agency, and the Spanish Meteorological Agency, Aemet.
Today, Friday, the cloudiness will be abundant during the morning and it will rain in the CAV and in the northern half of Navarra, with strong winds from the northwest. The wind will be settling from the southwest and will lose strength in the afternoon. As the day progresses, clearings will be opening, except in the Pyrenees and in the extreme southwest of Navarra, where the rains could continue, although weak.
Temperatures will rise and so will Snow cover will go up to 1.500 m at noon. Still, the thermometers today will be below 10 degrees inland and around 12-14 degrees on the coast. It will be possible to freeze weakly in the Pyrenees and the wind will blow strongly from the northwest, with strong gusts at high elevations of the Pyrenees.
The Saturday it will rain again, the northwest wind will blow strongly and the rains will be more intense in the afternoon and at night, with locally strong showers on the Cantabrian slope and late-night storms. The northwesterly wind will blow strongly and will be unpleasant at many times. The maximum temperatures will not experience great changes and will be measured in the morning, but throughout the day it will cool down and the snow level will drop to 1000-1100 m at night on the Cantabrian slope and 800 m in Navarra.
Few changes for the Sunday. The skies will be very cloudy or overcast and it will rain, especially during the morning and on the Cantabrian slope, where the rains will be persistent and abundant, with the possibility of occasional storms with hail. In the southern half, the cloud cover will be less dense and the rainfall will be less intense, with longer clearings. The snow level will be around 800-1000 m in the northern part of the territory and around 600-700 m in Navarra, where the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated the yellow warning for snow, since 15 cm can accumulate in 24 hours above 800 m and 20 cm at elevations above 900-1000 m. The wind will blow from the moderate northwest on the coast and in mountain areas, with strong intervals in the Ribera and Pyrenees. Temperatures will drop, with a minimum of 2ºC inside and a maximum of 6ºC. On the coast, temperatures will hover between 7 and 10 ºC throughout the day.
Facing the holidays next week, the time will be variable. On Monday it will rain throughout the day and throughout the territory; Tuesday will clear in the first part of the day and temperatures will rise a bit, but the rain will return at dusk. It will also be rainy on Wednesday, and the thermometers will drop; Furthermore, storms are not ruled out on the Cantabrian slope in the last part of the day.
