The Ministry of Health has published this Tuesday the report of infections, hospitalizations and deaths from COVID-19 in Spain and the data reflects 99,671 new cases since Friday, again marking a daily record of infections in our country. So far a total of 6,032,297 confirmed cases have been reported.

In addition, Health has registered a total of 114 new deaths in the last 24 hours from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths from coronavirus to 89,253 since the start of the pandemic.

The accumulated incidence nationwide at 14 days continues to rise and stands at 1,306.21 cases per 100,000 inhabitants after increasing by 154.41 points with respect to the data registered this Monday. In this way, it becomes the highest incidence that Spain has had since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020.

Navarra continues to be the community with the highest cumulative incidence (2,716), followed by La Rioja (2.385), Basque Country (2,105), Madrid (2,018), Castilla y León (1,941) and Aragon (1,783). In addition, only three regions are already below 1,000 incidence: Andalusia, Comunitat Valenciana and Melilla.

On the other hand, hospital occupancy has grown by 322 patients in the last 24 hours, so that there are already 9,852 people who remain hospitalized for coronavirus. The pressure in ICUs continues to rise slowly, after growing by 0.45%, reaching 18.71% of the beds occupied by COVID patients.

Regarding vaccination levels, 92% of the population over 12 years old have at least one dose, that is, 38.7 million Spaniards, while 89.9%, or 37.8 million people, They already have the complete pattern of two ‘punctures’.

Europe, also in record numbers

The United Kingdom, Italy and Greece have registered their maximum number of infections in a day since the start of the pandemic on Tuesday, while Portugal and France have remained at the gates of the record. In the case of the French, they have shown concern because the deceased increase the percentage of infections, 242 in the reading of today’s figures, but they recognize that the variant is less lethal.

In Italy they have reached 78,000 infected in the last 24 hours, a figure that marks a record, while the deceased reach 202. However, the authorities attribute this number of infections to the many tests carried out, more than a million in one day.

For its part, in Portugal today they have registered more than 17,000 new infections, very close to their record levels, and the Minister of Health Marta Temido, has indicated: “If this continues, by January 7 we will have 35,000 daily infections. It is true that this variant is less lethal than the others, but more contagious ”.

Finally, in Greece from one day to the next the number of infected has doubled, setting a historical record of 21,657 new infections, while in the United Kingdom, with 129,471 new infections, they also pulverize the previous figures and significantly increase hospitalizations.
