The Tinder Swindler

Tinder Swindler was released on January 1, 2022. Once the documentary hit Netflix, it became a viral sensation as viewers became fascinated with the true story of Simon Leviev, the man who infamously scammed women on Tinder in order to give him money and switched funds between women he was dating. On Netflix, the documentary is described as provocative and investigative.

The three-part documentary, jeen-yuhs, was first released on February 16, with the two following episodes being released a week apart. The documentary follows Kanye West’s career from the beginning and the title of the film is to play on the word ”genius” and his sixth studio album ”yeezus”.

The documentary takes viewers on a journey from the beginning of Kanye’s career as his friend Coodie followed him around, just as Kanye’s career as a music producer was picking up and he was trying to gain respect as a rapper.

Kanye fans and those interested in knowing more about Kanye praised the documentary as it filmed some key moments. These included Kanye’s struggle to pitch to Roc-A-Fella records his now-iconic hit song ”All Falls Down”.

Bad Vegan

Bad Vegan was released on Netflix on March 16. It follows the story of Sarma Melngailis, founder-owner of the former successful raw vegan restaurant called ”Pure Food and Wine”.

The restaurant was highly successful in the 2000s. However, it permanently closed in 2016 after a series of regretful decisions made by Sarma that involved her transferring funds to a man she met online who later became her husband de ella, with the belief that he could make her dog and her immortal.

This led to Sarma and her husband Anthony Strangis being arrested and serving time in the New York jailhouse, Rikers Prison.

This documentary follows the clash between Boeing’s legacy of safety and precision, and corporate goals of efficiency and profit. The documentary reveals how the competing ideals led to tragedy. Netflix describes the documentary as investigative and emotional.
