Whether we’re commuting to work or traveling for a staycation, trains are a great way to get around the country.
And Scotland offers some beautiful scenery on its railway routes with stunning scenery passengers can experience.
From the cinematic beauty of the Glenfinnan Viaduct to the West Highland Line, there’s plenty of incredible journeys across Scotland passing through hundreds of train stations.
In fact, during 2020 – 2021, more than 380 million passenger journeys were made on national rail services in the UK.
According to the ORR (Office of Rail and Road) this increase in passengers has contributed to an overall deterioration in punctuality and reliability – but has also led to an increase in complaints.
Gathering information gathered from Tripadvisor databases, Distrelec has analyzed the data to find out which stations make commuters the most, and least, happy.
Scottish train stations have featured in both the happiest and unhappiest list – this is what the data revealed…
Happiest stations in the UK
The top fourteen stations include St Pancras station – one of the busiest stations in the UK, with best amenities, eateries and things to do. St.
Glasgow Central Station came in at second place, while picturesque Gleneagles Railway Station also made the top 14.

Leeds Station is the worst station according to reviewers.
Edinburgh Waverley Station came in third on the list as one of the worst stations in the UK, while Glasgow Queen Station was number 10.
