Apple AirPods (2nd Gen) and AirPods Pro are receiving a firmware update to version 3E751, and this is the 1st update since September 2020. There is no manual way to update, as with most Apple audio firmware updates. With a compatible source device through a connection, AirPods are updated automatically. With the firmware update, it’s unclear what new features or changes come. But as per sources, it will fix and improve the overall user experience for both AirPods variants.
On an iOS device, through the Bluetooth settings, users can check the current firmware on the AirPods Pro and AirPods (2nd Gen). This update is not available for the first-gen AirPods.
The previous firmware version 3A283, for Air Pods (2nd Gen) and AirPods Pro, brought many new features. The features include quick switching to the two Apple TWS earbuds and support for Spatial Audio. Direction-based audio positioning with supported content is allowed by the former. Too fast and seamless switch between source devices such as iPad, iPhone, or Mac computer, depending on the device in use, is allowed by the former.
Steps for installing the update –
- Connect Air Pods or AirPods Pro to your iOS device.
- Then launch the Settings app and head over to General.
- Tap on About and then tap on AirPods.
- The firmware version listed can be seen.
When the users are not using the earbuds, AirPods firmware gets updated automatically overnight. AirPods should be in the case and charging once the above steps are controlling. Make sure the iOS device is connected to the internet. HomePod software update recently seeded by Apple.
Apple this year is set to launch the 3rd Gen of its popular TWS earphones. The 3rd Gen AirPods is said to come with a similar design to the AirPod Pro. As per reports, it will be launched along with iPhone 13 this year.
