Rylan Clark filmed demanding ‘give me the gear’ sparking drug fears

TV host Rylan Clark recorded on video demanding “team” on a night out, then said, “Delete it now or I’ll kill you!”

The host of Strictly: It Takes Two smiled and the slurred “threat” was clearly a joke, The Mirror writes.

But the images will no doubt alarm fans as they came so soon after the 33-year-old spoke out about needing help with personal issues.

Last year, it was revealed that Rylan had split from her husband of six years, Dan Neal, 42, and admitted to drinking recently.

The former host of Big Brother’s Bit On The Side was filmed talking to a reveler outside a packed bar in London’s West End.

A camera phone video shows him exclaiming, “Give me the gear, give me the damn gear and we’re off.”

Then, when he realizes he’s being recorded, he laughs and demands the footage be removed, “or I’ll kill you.” The star has previously insisted she never felt the need to use drugs, for which “team” is often a slang word. The footage, filmed this month, came weeks after Rylan admitted he had sought hospital treatment for problems after his marriage split.

An eyewitness told the Sunday Mirror: “Rylan was in quite high spirits and it was clear he wanted to party.

“He was in the smoking area, but he said he wanted to go out and have a wild night. He wanted to get away from his team.”

It was caught on camera during a night out.

In the 22-second clip, Rylan can be seen walking with a partner on a dark street, wearing a black shirt and clutching his phone.

The footage begins with the former This Morning host yelling, “Give me the gear…”

He yells when he realizes he’s being filmed, but smiles as he points at the camera and says, “No, no, no, delete that now, delete that now, or I’ll kill you.” .”

Then there is an exchange with the man as they walk down the street.

Rylan, said to be worth £4.5 million, repeats, “No, I’ll kill you.”

His partner laughs and tells him: “Whatever. You just said give me the equipment. I’m not going to…”

Rylan, shaking his head, repeats, “I’ll kill you.” The guy says, “Come on, you’re with me,” only for Rylan to repeat, “No, I’ll kill you, you know I will.”

Rylan could be seen smiling at the camera.

Just five days ago, on an episode of her Ry-union podcast, celebrity guest Davina McCall asked the star if she had ever used drugs.

Rylan responded, “I’ve never been to that place where I feel like I need to do something like that.

“I was in a boy band in Ibiza, so you can imagine the world I was living in there, [but] I never felt the need to do that. I’m a control freak.

“The idea of not being in control of something, even when I’ve been drinking. I’ve been out a couple of times lately and I’ve been drinking more than usual, I’m pretty honest about it.”

Two weeks ago, she said in an interview that she had a nervous breakdown and eating problems following her divorce from Dan. Announcing the split in June, Rylan said he had made “a number of mistakes”, which he regretted and which “inevitably led to the breakdown of our marriage”.

In the interview, Rylan said that he had been treated after becoming dangerously thin and mentally ill after the breakup. He said: “It got bad. Like, very bad. And I didn’t think it would get any better. Needed help.

Rylan, whose full name is Ross Richard Clark, made it to the final five on The X Factor in 2012, despite being mocked as the supposed “joke act.” His dramatic reaction going into the final is legendary. He went on to win Celebrity Big Brother, then hosted its spin-off show, Bit On The Side.

Famous for his jet-black hair and pearl-white teeth, he joined This Morning in 2014, Radio 2 in 2018, has hosted revamped versions of Supermarket Sweep and Ready Steady Cook, and stars in several TV commercials.

From the moment he stepped onto the stage of The X Factor in 2012, Rylan Clark captured the hearts of Britain with his broad smile.

It’s fair to say that he was never destined for a platinum music career, but he soon became a jewel in the crown of British television.

His easy charm and man-of-the-people character have made him one of the most in-demand names in show business. So naturally, many of us will have felt a twinge of sadness for Rylan when it was announced that his marriage was over.

And even more so when he took a break from his duties as presenter, lost weight and confided in his fans: “I needed help.”

He was brave to talk about his problems and admit that he has been drinking more than usual.

This video will certainly worry his legions of fans, but it won’t dampen their affection for him.

We speak for the nation when we say: We love you, Rylan, and we hope you get all the help you need.
