Prince William discusses ‘bringing family together’ at Christmas

If there’s one Christmas fad that has swept the nation in recent years, it’s Elf on the Shelf.

The game sees parents throughout December place the elf in different locations in the house so he pops up somewhere new when they wake up in the morning.

But it appears the elf has not yet visited Kensington Palace to see Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

That’s because Prince William has admitted that he’s never heard of the fun, festive game.

William made the admission during a Christmas interview for the Royal Marsden Hospital’s radio station. William is patron of the hospital that specialises in cancer care.

In the interview, the second-in-line to the throne was posed sweet questions that had been sent in by children.

One was from Theo, who asked William: “I love Elf on the Shelf – is Elf on the Shelf coming to your house?”

But taken aback by the question, William had to admit: “So Theo, I don’t actually know what Elf on the Shelf is, but it sounds quite fun and I’d quite like to have an Elf on my Shelf in my house.”

The Royal Family’s plans for Christmas currently hang in the balance due to spiralling Covid cases and the possibility of more restrictions being brought in before the big day.

The Queen will make a decision on whether her traditional family Christmas will go ahead at Sandringham in the next 48 hours.

And in his hospital radio interview, William was asked by Sonya how he would celebrate with the world if he was in charge of Christmas for a day.

He said: “Well Sonya you’ve pretty much stumped me, that is a very good question and one I’m not quite sure how to answer. “

The father-of-three added: “I think I’d have to make sure everyone could enjoy it.

“So we’d have to bring everyone together and have a big party and there would be no Covid and there would certainly be no cancer in the world if I was in charge of Christmas for the day.”
