The new positives grow in the Basque Country until the 2576 cases, compared to 1424 the previous week. In fact, every day of the past week there were more than 300 positives, although the highest number was registered on Friday, November 12, with 451.
Besides, the cumulative incidence has shot up to 181.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days, almost 73 points more than seven days ago, which places Euskadi in a situation of “stressed” virus transmission that has resulted in an increase in hospital pressure and that affects more markedly eight municipalities that are in the red zone.
The accumulated incidence has gone in just 7 days from 118 cases to 181, the highest figure since September 11, according to the data released this Monday in the epidemiological bulletin published weekly by the Health Department.
Specifically, the three territories increase their incidence, but the situation of high transmission of the virus in Gipuzkoa is worrying, which in one week has gone from a cumulative incidence of 174.3 to 308.5 cases, that is, it is in a scenario of transmission high.
This rate has also increased in Bizkaia, from 79.4 to 120.5 cases, and in Álava, from 62.9 to 99.9 cases.
Along the same lines, the accumulation of cases has increased in the three capitals, especially in San Sebastián, where there are already 231.3 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, well above Vitoria-Gasteiz (99.1) and Bilbao ( 89.4).
While in Álava only Agurain appears in this situation and in Bizkaia Elorrio, Gipuzkoa is where the most affected localities are concentrated, especially Astigarraga, where the incidence continues to rise and stands at 1408.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. It is joined by Azpeitia, Zumarraga, Pasaia, Tolosa and Urretxu.
Increases hospital pressure and R0
114 people are admitted by covid-19 in the plant, 24 more than there were a week before, and the patients in the Intensive Care Units are also growing (UCI) a 30, six more than the previous week.
The only positive data from this Monday’s bulletin is the decrease in the weekly number of deaths due to covid, which has gone from 10 to 6.
Another parameter that measures the evolution of the pandemic and that has worsened is the reproductive number, which indicates how many people a sick person can infect. A week ago it was at 1.22 and now at 1.36. In Bizkaia it is above the average (1.39) while in Álava it is at 1.35 and in Gipuzkoa at 1.34.
The positivity rate has also been above 5% practically every day and reached 7.5% this Sunday.
It is worsening of the situation has made the Basque Government decide to reactivate some of the restrictions that were eliminated at the beginning of August and which will be announced tomorrow, Tuesday by the Basque Government. The new restrictions will affect the areas with the highest incidence and will be focused on avoiding crowds.
The lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, deactivated the health emergency situation in the CAV, in force since August 2020, at the beginning of October. On the 7th of that month, with an incidence rate in 14 days of 58.8 cases, the vast majority of the restrictions were eliminated, but the regional executive reserved the possibility of later adopting the measures and regulations that were considered necessary.
460 cases in the group of 6 to 12 years
The high accumulated incidence in the 6 to 12-year-old group stands out, reaching 460.8 cases, when the previous week there were 302, a data that confirms that the spread of the virus attacks especially children of that age group who they are not yet included in the vaccination strategy.
In the educational system, the situation caused by the covid has also worsened in the last week. This Monday the six classrooms of the Eskola Txikia Tirrita de Ereñotzu, in Hernani, had to be closed, which has been left without face-to-face activity.
In total, there are 35 classrooms closed in 21 educational centers throughout the autonomous community, when a week ago there were 30 classrooms affected by covid cases.
These classrooms account for 0.2% of the total classes in the Basque educational system, which has 17,470 classrooms from 2 years of age to post-compulsory non-university education.
