The NFL throne is vacant. The Bengals and the Rams want to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy this Sunday, February 13. This is an unprecedented matchup in American football history because there is a feat at stake: Cincinnati has earned a reputation as one of the teams at odds with glory by losing the big game twice (1982 and 1989). While the Los Angeles team wants to add their second crown achieved in 2000. If they win it this year they will be the second team to succeed in a Super Bowl at home after Tampa Bay in 2021.

Where will it be played?

The Super Bowl is coming home. The first edition was held in 1967 between Green Bay and Kansas City in Los Angeles. Fifty-five years later, the Super Bowl returns to the Californian city. This time it will be played at the SoFi Stadium with a capacity for more than 70,000 people and which was inaugurated in 2020, during the confinement due to the pandemic. Its cost was 5,000 million dollars.

Where to see and what time?

Which players should I follow?

Both the Bengals and Rams ripped apart favorite teams to get to the Super Bowl. The Los Angeles franchise got the Arizona Cardinals (34-11), Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers (30-27) and the San Francisco 49ers (20-17) out of the way. While the Cincinnati oranges eliminated the Raiders (26-19), Titans, (19-16) and Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs (27-24).

The architects of the good season of the Rams are the quarterback Matthew Stafford, 34, with a lackluster past in Detroit. In a single year he managed to nurture good passes to his receivers Cooper Kup and the controversial Odell Beckham Jr. The defense has two bulls Darious Williams and Von Miller. They are all led by Sean McVay, a 36-year-old head coach who will be playing in his second Super Bowl. The first was lost against the Patriots in the 2018 season (13-3).

In the Bengals they have a prolific player who emerged from the worst nightmare. Joe Burrow, a college football champion with Louisiana State, was hired by Cincinnati to try to change his losing reputation. In 2020, his first season, Burrow had to go to the operating room after a ligament rupture that cut short his entire campaign. A year later, he led his team to qualify for the playoffs after more than 30 years without success. His ideal partner has been Ja’Marr Chase, 21, also from Louisiana. Chase has been key to converting 13 touchdowns and 81 successful receptions with the ball.

Who performs at the halftime show?

There are editions of the Super Bowl in which the half-time show provokes more expectation than the mere party. For this 2022 there will be one of the biggest gatherings of rappers in the United States: Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Dr. Dree, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar. Last year The Weeknd was present and, however, his presentation was marked by the reduced capacity due to covid-19.
