Manchester United are set for a long, long trip to Sussex for the penultimate game of their Premier League season against Brighton on Saturday afternoon (5.30pm). It comes after they returned to winning ways with a comfortable victory over Brentford on Monday night.
That was their final home match of the campaign. Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring in stunning fashion there as further goals came from Cristiano Ronaldo (pen) and Raphael Varane.
However, as they bid to continue their revised Europa League target, United might find Brighton a little tougher to encounter; certainly, if predictions from three regular pundits are anything to go by. Here is what Michael Owen and two others think will happen at the Amex Stadium.

Mark Lawrenson – BBC Sport
Speaking to BBC Sport, former Liverpool defender Lawrenson said: “Brighton have had some impressive results all season, but they struggle to win at the Amex Stadium. Norwich and Watford [are the only teams that] have picked up fewer points than them at home.
“That’s one of the reasons I fancy Manchester United to win this one. Also, United are not under any pressure now their hopes of a top-four finish are basically over. They can play with a bit of freedom here, like they did when they beat Brentford on Monday.”
Score prediction: Brighton 0-2 Manchester United
Paul Merson – Sportskeeda
Sharing his score prediction, Sky Sports pundit Merson told Sportskeeda: “You really don’t know what you’re going to get with Manchester United in the Premier League – but they finally produced a good team performance against Brentford. I felt it was one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s best-ever performances.
“He was involved in everything and brought a lot of players into the game. He’s still a great player and we’ll have to wait and see what Erik ten Hag has to say about his future.
“Brighton got a great result against Wolves and they have looked a lot better in recent games, so expect this one to finish all square. It will be a tough test for Manchester United and I think there will be goals in this one.”
Score prediction: Brighton 2-2 Manchester United
Michael Owen – BetVictor
In his latest BetVictor column, Owen added: “Brighton’s form in April was superb, with wins away against Arsenal, Spurs and Wolves. They’ve shown themselves to be one of the best away sides in the league.
“I never know what Man United we are going to see, but I thought they played well on Monday against Brentford. Ronaldo is ending the season in great form, scoring in his last three. I won’t be surprised if he scores in this one, too, but I fancy Brighton to get the win.”
Score prediction: Brighton 2-1 Manchester United
