It’s always a big moment to meet your partner’s family.
But not all of us will be like Meghan Markle and have the Royal Family for in-laws!
After Meghan and Prince Harry’s relationship became serious, she was introduced to the Queen, Prince Charles and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The two lovebirds were engaged by 2017, and during an interview shortly after Meghan gave a sweet one word answer when asked about a meeting with future sister in-law Kate Middleton.
After their engagement, the couple gave an interview to the BBC’s Mishal Hussein and recalled Meghan’s first meeting with Kate.
As reported in The Mirror, Harry said: “It was exciting I mean I’ve — you know I’d been seeing her for a period of time when I literally didn’t tell anybody at all.
“And then William was longing to meet her and so was Catherine, so you know, being our neighbours, we managed to get that in a couple of — well quite a few times now and Catherine has been absolutely…”
And Meghan with a one-word answer chipped in: “Wonderful.”
The future Duchess went onto praise Harry’s family for being so warm and welcoming, and recalled her first meeting with his grandmother, the Queen.
Meghan said: “I think, you know, to be able to meet her through his lens, not just with his honor and respect for her as the monarch, but the love that he has for her as his grandmother, all of those layers have been so important for me so that when I met her I had such a deep understanding and of course incredible respect for being able to have that time with her.
“And we’ve had a really — she’s — she’s an incredible woman.”
However, since that engagement interview, a lot has changed for Harry and Meghan.
The two tied the knot in 2018 and have welcomed two children since then, but in a tumultuous turn of events they stepped down as senior royals and moved to the USA.
It’s been one year since Harry and Meghan gave their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey where they made some shocking allegations.
Before the interview, numerous reports said that Meghan had made Kate cry during a bridesmaid dress fitting in the lead up to her wedding to Harry.
But in the tell-all chat with Oprah, Meghan claimed it was actually the other way around.
However, she said she has now forgiven Kate, saying that she’s a “good person”, and added that Kate gave her flowers to apologize for the incident.
Meghan said that the incident was a “turning point” in terms of her time in the Royal Family.
