After her recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Meghan Markle is said to be eyeing up a role as a talk show host, which will allow her to ‘have some fun’ while ‘boosting her popularity’
Meghan Markle had such a nice time on The Ellen DeGeneres Show she is reportedly thinking of following in her footsteps and forging a career as a talk show host.
The mum-of-two made quite an impression on the popular show in which she took part in a skit which saw her do squats while obeying commands from the US host.
Now, according to a source close to the Duchess, Meghan has her sights set on a huge TV role.
“Meghan was rejuvenated by the whole Ellen experience and came home excited about what a dream job it would be for her,” the source told heat magazine.
“The idea of picking whoever she wants to interview while having plenty of fun and also addressing the topics she cares about is really starting to appeal – especially as it will boost her popularity.
While devouring crisps “like a chipmunk”, Meghan was certainly having fun on Ellen’s show and the audience seemed to be lapping it up.
However, one person who wasn’t impressed with her performance was her father, Thomas Markle Sr.
He told the Sunday Mirror that he squirmed as he watched his daughter’s latest TV interview… and dismissed it as a “stupid stunt”.
“It’s no way to behave,” he said.
“The whole thing was kind of embarrassing. It was certainly embarrassing for the Royal Family.
“It’s embarrassing for her as well. I suspect it embarrassed everyone in the UK, too.
“She’s putting herself out there as a duchess but I’ve never seen a duchess behave this way, doing stupid stunts.”
While Thomas and critics alike slammed Meghan’s ’embarrassing’ performance, the source says the Duchess is keen to get back into showbiz.
“She knows there’s no way her and Harry would have been permitted to sit down with Ellen if they were still serving Royals, and that’s just plain ridiculous in her view,” they revealed.
The source added that Meghan still “shudders” at the way she was made to behave and is grateful she’s now “home” around “like minded folk”.
No doubt such folk would flock to Meghan’s show, which apparently has a working title of Tea With Duchess Meghan.
Meghan is said to be very protective of her Royal title and believes ‘she has every right’ to use it.
Her husband Prince Harry is also reportedly extremely supportive of his wife’s efforts and has told her she should feel proud to call herself a Duchess.
The Mirror has contacted Meghan’s reps for comment.
