Manchester United’s Under-23s play West Ham in Premier League 2 on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds beat Brighton 2-1 last time out, but this clash against title-chasing West Ham promises to be a tricky encounter.

While West Ham is second in Premier League 2, they have a game to play [against United] to play league leaders Manchester City. United are currently sixth in the table and sit 10 points behind today’s opposition.

D’Mani Mellor scored a brace for United against Brighton and will be hoping to lead by example again today.

ICYMI: Mellor shines for United U23 on return from Salford loan

D’Mani Mellor and Zidane Iqbal returned to the pitch just before the second half with their arms around each other.

No wonder they were so animated and smiling. United’s Under-23s visited Brighton in Premier League 2 on Friday afternoon and made the perfect start to the match when Mellor gave the Reds the lead just after 10 minutes.

Charlie Wellens played a speculative pass into the Brighton box and Mellor reacted first to find the back of the net.

Mellor doubled his tally soon after, with Brighton committing a calamitous defense after United put pressure on the ball. The youngster was recalled from his loan spell at Salford earlier this week and it was the perfect return to under-23 action.
