Loose Women star Nadia Sawalha has admitted how ‘nervous’ she was to stand in her ‘bra and pants in front of rock god’ Bryan Adams.
The guitarist shot Loose Women’s body confidence campaign Body Stories back in 2017, which involved Nadia and eight of her fellow panelists stripping down to swimwear and showing their bodies without any airbrushing involved.
Recalling the photoshoot, Linda Robson welcomed Bryan to the panel, saying: ‘Remember the last time we saw you, we had nothing on did we?’
Bryan, who has previously photographed the likes of Kate Moss and even The Queen, quickly corrected: ‘Well, you had some things on!’
Speaking about the campaign and the photoshoot, Nadia shared: ‘It was life-changing. I was so intimidated being in your house with all those people.
‘I felt like the first time I’m going to stand in front of a man in my bra and pants is in front of a rock god, with no lighting.’
Bryan added that one of the parts of the campaign was to have ‘no retouching’, so it was important to ‘find the right light’ for each model.
‘It wasn’t even really about the retouching or the makeup, it was about that vulnerability, and though it was a very intimidating situation, I really love that photograph. I actually love it and I was so nervous about it because it was just an honest photography,’ Nadia added.
‘You’re just a woman and you’re just standing there.’
Nadia and Linda were joined by Andrea McLean, Coleen Nolan, Linda Robson, Saira Khan, Stacey Solomon, Janet Street-Porter, Jane Moore and Katie Price in the campaign shoot.
The campaign was established to encourage women of all ages and sizes to celebrate their bodies, as each of the nine women shared their own personal body stories.
Speaking about the campaign and photoshoot ahead of its launch in 2017, Nadia shared in an ITV statement: ‘I have wasted more time than I can to think of over my body issues. I’ve always hated being naked.
‘I felt quite panic stricken at the thought of getting my body out in front of myself never mind a rock god!
‘Stepping into the studio in my bra and pants was beyond cringe. There I was stretch marks, cellulite and all the battle scars of life for all to see with the knowledge that there would be zero airbrushing.
‘And to be honest that’s why I wanted to do the shoot. I wanted to practice what I preach to my daughters. What the hell does it matter what we look like as long as we are smart, brave and kind?
‘I’m praying that after this I will feel liberated and no longer be living in my secret cellulite hell!’
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30 on ITV.
