Jade Thirlwall has sparked excitement among fans after teasing a collaboration with Calvin Harris.
The Scots DJ is promoting his highly anticipated album – Funk Wav Bounces Vol 2, which doesn’t have a release date yet – with the Little Mix singer hints of a collaboration causing fans to get excited.
The 29-year-old pop star is preparing to launch her very own solo career later this year after the final Little Mix tour comes to its conclusion.
Calvin, originally from Dumfries, hasn’t released any new music since 2017 and has been dropping hints about his latest album all over his social media, as fans pay attention to the clues.
Many of the DJ’s famous friends shared their excitement for his new record, but Jade’s comment caused a social media frenzy as fans hope for a collaboration between the two.
In a post on Instagram, Calvin wrote: “Funk Wav Bounces Vol.2 COMING SOON” – referencing the long awaited sequel to his 2017 Vol 1 album.
Jade was among the first to react to Calvin’s post, writing in the comments section: “We’re ready” – along with a flamingo emoji.
Fans of both musicians leapt on the exchange to suggest the pair had been working together.
One fan suspiciously wrote: “wait a minute..”
And another more directly asked: “possible collab in the works?”
Jade is signed to RCA while Calvin is signed with Columbia – however both labels are owned by Sony Music Entertainment.
Calvin wouldn’t be the only DJ Jade is collaborating with, as Jax Jones previously claimed he had recorded a track with the Little Mix star.
He said in an interview at the end of last year: “I was in the studio with Jade and she is mega-cool and super-talented. She is also such fun to be around.
“We wrote something really cool so hopefully that can come out too.”
A source backed up Jax’s claims, adding at the time: “Jade’s been working super-hard on the new music and those who have heard the tracks say they sound amazing.
“Jade has already met with Sony to talk things through but has really been impressed by Atlantic, and all signs point to her going with them. She has held top-secret talks with them and it’s all really positive.”
Meanwhile, it was previously reported that Jade had signed with the same management team as Grammy Award Winning singer Lizzo to help plot her solo success.
An industry source said last November: “Jade had a series of meetings with Full Stop Management earlier this year and she’s now signed on the dotted line.
“They think she is going to be a huge star, just like Harry has become after One Direction went on hiatus.
“Jade has bags of ideas for her solo music and she’s already recorded some amazing songs that have impressed industry bosses.
“As well as music she is putting plans into motion for more TV appearances and there is no doubt she can become a mega-star in her own right.”
