The thug who left 19-year-old Angel Lynn brain-damaged after a botched kidnapping attempt will have his ‘soft’ sentence reviewed.
Angel Lynn suffered life-changing injuries after she was kidnapped by her ex Chay Bowskill and his friend Rocco Sansome.
The couple, both in their 20s, were jailed Thursday, with Bowskill given a 7 1/2-year sentence and Sansome 21 months.
Attorney General Suella Braverman has reportedly confirmed that a complaint has been filed regarding Bowskill’s sentence.
It will now be reviewed and the legal chief will decide whether to refer it to the Court of Appeals.
Ángel has been left unable to communicate, walk or feed himself and needs 24-hour care after the attempted kidnapping.
She was injured when she got out of a speeding vehicle traveling at an estimated speed of 60mph on the A6 towards Loughborough.
It is unclear how he left the vehicle during the horrific incident on September 17, 2020. LeicestershireLive reported.
Bowskill of Empingham Drive, Syston was acquitted of “inadvertently causing serious bodily harm” because it could not be proven how she left the vehicle.
Sansome, of Wanlip Lane, Birstall, admitted to possessing cannabis and driving the van while out of shape due to cannabis use, on the morning of the A6 incident.
The prosecution was unable to prove that Angel was thrown or pushed and the defense claimed that she accidentally jumped or fell onto the road, Leicester Crown Court was told.
Bowskill was found guilty of controlling and coercive behavior towards Angel during their year-long relationship and perverting the course of justice, by trying to persuade his own mother to retract or change a police statement she made against him.
On being sentenced at Leicester Crown Court, Judge Timothy Spencer QC told Bowskill: “She was a beautiful young woman who should have enjoyed the carefree years of her teens into early adulthood.
“You treated her in a vile manner. You belittled her to the point where she must have felt useless on a regular basis.
“You bombarded her with repulsive and demeaning messages. You controlled her freedom of movement through various means.
“She was not allowed any kind of life apart from you. I am satisfied that you violated her, causing her bruises, on at least two occasions.”
The judge added: “If it wasn’t for the hijacking, Angel Lynn wouldn’t have been in the van, which was in a state of high stress, driving on the A6 at 60-70mph and wouldn’t have been in a position where she got out. of the van with devastating consequences.
“None of that would have happened to her if you hadn’t kidnapped her in the first place.
“The ultimate consequences cannot be ignored. It must also be set in the context of many months of controlling and coercive behavior.”
