Kalvin Phillips and Declan Rice among four players Man City are tipped to sign on deadline day

It has been a quiet month on the transfer front at Manchester City, but they are expected to soon announce the arrival of Julian Alvarez.

The striker, as confirmed by River Plate president Jorge Brito over the weekend, is to join City, but will remain at the Argentine giants on loan until July.

Alvarez is set to be joined in checking into City on deadline day by Hungarian youngster Zalán Vancsa, but he, like Alvarez, is set to be a signing for the future, opposed to for the here and now.

Therefore, City’s squad is unlikely to have a different look to it when they face Fulham in the FA Cup fourth-round on Saturday, even though nothing can be ruled out for certain on transfer deadline day, especially as far as the January window is concerned .

With that said, the bookmakers are linking City with a handful of players ahead of the window slamming shut.

below, MEN Sports you have taken a close look at who the bookmakers are suggesting could seal a move to the Etihad Stadium before the bell.

Douglas Luiz – 33/1

Aston Villa ace Luiz is being heavily linked with a move to both Arsenal and Tottenham ahead of the window closing at 11pm this evening, with both clubs looking to secure a last-minute signing or two.

The Brazilian has gone from strength-to-strength under Steven Gerrard in recent weeks and is now being linked with several top-end Premier League clubs.

Surprisingly, City are now being touted as a possible suitor, despite the defensive-midfielder having left the Etihad Stadium in July 2019.

The likelihood of him returning to City is highly unlikely, especially ahead of this evening’s deadline.

Declan Rice – 1/33

A firm target of Manchester United’s, City have also been closely linked with West Ham star Rice.

However, City are not expected to launch any sort of move for the Hammers midfield enforcer, certainly not before the 11pm bell, as provided by the size of the odds.

United are determined to land the England international in the summer window and have already put plans in place for how they can get a deal over the line.

Links with City, however, are likely to persist because of Rice’s undisputed talent and City’s wealth.

Kalvin Phillips – 1/33

Like Rice, Leeds United ace Phillips is continuing to go from strength-to-strength and has been linked with a move to West Ham as a replacement for Rice.

The England international has developed at a rapid rate of knots under Marcelo Bielsa and has been linked with the likes of Liverpool, United and Tottenham in recent months.

Considering Fernandinho seems likely to leave City this summer, it will see them a man down in defensive-midfield, meaning they may pursue a move for the Leeds midfielder in a few months’ time.

However, he is not expected to be swapping Leeds for Manchester today.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 50/1

Poised to sign for Barcelona on loan for the remainder of the season from Arsenal, the prospect of that move collapsing and Aubameyang joining City is massively unexpected, as come by the size of the odds.

The striker has fallen out-of-favor at the Emirates Stadium and has been stripped of the captaincy, meaning his career in north London appears to be dead and buried.

However, City are not expected to be the next club to secure his signature, with a move to Barcelona apparently imminent.

Odds are courtesy of SkyBet and are correct as of January 31.
