Nothing gets past soap fans and eagle-eyed Coronation Street viewers think they’ve spotted a subtle yet poignant tribute in latest scenes.

Kicking off Monday’s hour-long trip to Weatherfield, and the first visit of the week to our favorite street, viewers of the ITV soap joined Amy Barlow as she sat down to do a bit of negotiation in the cafe with her granddad, Ken. The teenager was seeking to get the inheritance from her her grandma-Ken’s wife, Deidre-had left for her in order to fund her education at university after cutting ties with her mum and dad.

Amy, played by Elle Mulvaney, was left furious last week when Steve McDonald and Tracy Barlow didn’t believe her. She had told them that her new boyfriend Jacob Hay had been sticking up for her when he punched her cousin, Simon Barlow.

The confrontation on the street ensued after Amy invited bad boy Jacob for lunch with her parents despite them having already made no secret of the fact that they don’t want their daughter dating the former drug dealer. After making it through the awkward meal, the scenes became even more toe-curling when Jacob decided to leave after being spotted by Leanne Battersby.

And so the lovebirds said their goodbye at the table in front of Tracy and Steve with a slurpy smooch that seemed to last a little longer than it should have. Then, heading off back to his bedsit, Jacob bumped into Simon who started antagonizing him over Amy.

Amy was pitching to her grandfather in order to get hold of her inheritance money

In a bid to stick up for his new girlfriend, he punched Simon in the face in full view of Amy and Steve. Amy fell out with her parents de ella after they did not believe her claims that Jacob was just sticking up for her, and viewers later saw her decide to up and leave the family home to be with Jacob.

But back on Monday night’s episode, Amy was giving her case on why she needed the money when she said to Ken: “Grandad, this is the day. I’d rather be pitching to Steven Bartlett but you can’t have everything,” which raised a smile with Shona Platt.

Shona wanted in on the conversation as she swooned: “Oh, I like him. He’s got an old soul and the body of a young God,” as she looked into the distance before taking a deep breath.

Dragons’ Den star Steven responded to the news on social media and while many were telling him he had ‘made it’ for getting a shout out on the Salford-based soap, someone else pointed out what they were more ‘taken by’ and it came just as the programme’s iconic theme tune was coming to an end at the start of the episode.
