Adam Barlow thought he had finally made a breakthrough with his tormentor Lydia Chambers – only then to be pushed over the balcony of a shopping centre.
The solicitor hasn’t had much luck of late with his marriage to Sarah looking set to end in divorce after former flame Lydia sought revenge for their relationship during their university days.
Fans have spent months trying to figure out why Carla Connor’s new PA was hellbent on destroying Adam’s life after they came back into contact through Sarah.

The bunny boiler character has been behind anonymous phone calls, a bogus tip-off to firearms police who stormed Adam’s office, a bouquet of flowers with a threatening note arriving at his flat, and planting a phone to back her claims that they have been having an affair behind Sarah’s back.
Since the news erupted and left Sarah heartbroken, Adam has been spending his time trying to prove his innocence while also drowning his sorrows. But during Monday night’s hour-long trip to Weatherfield, Adam was given crushing news from Sarah when she told him she had filed for a divorce.
Planning his next move, Adam sent a text from Sarah’s phone, which she left on the table in Roy’s cafe, to Lydia and was soon seen meeting up with her in a shopping center coffee shop to confront her about her behavior once and for all.
He attempted to record their conversation but to no avail as Lydia quickly worked out his plan. After trying to escape him and heading up the escalator to the next floor of the complex, the pair entered into another confrontation where an emotional Lydia jogged Adam’s memory of her about their time dating back at university and how badly he treated her.
She told how she was left seeking an abortion alone when she fell pregnant at the age of 19. As he apologized for his actions back then, bringing up his own family life that he believes played into his persona, Lydia had to rush off to collect her son, Finn, from school. But when Adam asked if Lydia could tell Sarah the truth, Lydia became enraged once again and she ended up slapping Adam.
And as he went to stop her from walking away she shoved her ex over a first-floor railing with his uncle Daniel Osbourne suddenly witnessing Adam crashing to the ground in front of him.
But eagle-eyed Corrie viewers think they spotted a continuity error which will have made a massive difference to whether Adam fell over the rails or not.
“Funny how the banister went up to his chest then it was only waist height,” @ladysolic said.
@designsbybird commented: “I loved how the handrail went from the height of Adam’s elbow to his waist before he fell.”
“So hang on why is the railing suddenly knee high? Or she turned into superman and threw him over it? and why is there no one else in this shopping centre? #corrie #coronationstreet,” @chrisb99_uk tweeted.
@S47052322 said: “Barrier first angle 1m high gets pushed 1 foot high health & safety #Corrie.”
“Shocking that broad and tall Adam can fall so easily over a waiste high barrier with the slightest of pushes…what’s he made of?#Corrie,” @InfoatHappy also noted.
@Clawmaw added: “That fall over the railings was pathetic!!! As if that would happen! Adam wouldn’t fall over them like that! #Corrie #CoronationStreet.”
