ITV Celebrity Catchphrase: The Hidden Health Battle of Kirsty Gallacher, Former Celebrity and Comedian Brother-in-Law


Kirsty Gallacher is a familiar face many of us associate with Sky Sports. Having started his career there in 1998, he spent some two decades working for the network before moving on to pursue other career goals.

Since June 2021, Kirsty has been a co-host of The Great British Breakfast on GB News. She was also the host of Sky One’s Kirsty home videos , INCREASE Y Simply the best . In 2005, he entered the All-Star Cup.

Kirsty is also no stranger to the odd celebrity. She has made guest appearances on Ant & Dec Saturday Night Takeout , Who wants to be a millionaire? Y Strictly come to dance . In 2010, she guest-starred on GMTV with Lorraine Kelly for two weeks, as well as lorraine on itv Breakfast .

The single mother recently spoke about a health issue that caused her hearing loss and how she feared it might have been a brain tumor. She said loose women how a “ringing” in her ear led to sleep deprivation, which made hosting the morning show for GB News extremely difficult.

She said: “I went to the doctor and he checked me out and said, ‘You’re very healthy, Kirsty, this is an emergency.’

“And I said ‘My God, why? Could it be a tumor?’ And she said, ‘Listen, it probably isn’t, but you’re going to see a consultant tomorrow.

He added: “I was doing early morning on a breakfast show and I was up at 2:45 in the morning. And just so you know, that’s not nice anyway. But my sleep has been affected because if you you wake up at night anyway, it’s pretty hard to get back to sleep.

“If you focus on the noise and it’s quiet, I often can’t go back to sleep for another two hours. So I can’t really function like that, like a working single mom doing a breakfast show.”

“I had to politely say that I was dealing with something and couldn’t really work at that time of day. I think that was fair enough, you have to think about your health.”

The problem was eventually identified as a small benign tumor in his inner ear canal.

Kirsty was previously married to rugby player Paul Sampson. The couple married in 2010 and had two children together, but their marriage ended after just five years. Before that, the presenter had even dated former West Ham, Manchester United and England footballer Rio Ferdinand. Meanwhile, her sister Laura Gallacher is married to comedian, actor and former MTV host Russell Brand.

In an interview with Closer Magazine, Kirsty once described her brother-in-law as a ‘pillar of support’ who has stood by her through the toughest of times, especially after her divorce.

She said: “Russell has always been a pillar of support. He gave me some encouraging words of motivation to follow my dreams and focus on doing what he wanted.”
