The Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) has published an order that clarifies which establishments and activities should require the mandatory covid certificate and which ones can benefit from the requirement of the voluntary covid certificate that carries as consideration the possibility of availing themselves of the closing hours and capacity established for the lower level.

In this way, the establishments, facilities or activities of the islands that are at health alert levels 3 and 4 that are affected by the application of the mandatory covid certificate are:

-Hotel and catering establishments open to the public, whose resolution granting an opening license has a capacity of more than 30 people. The dining rooms (not cafeterias) of formal education centers are exempted from this measure, with respect to students and teachers.

-Establishments and nightlife activities, whose resolution to grant an opening license has a capacity of more than 30 people, as well as in those others in which, regardless of their capacity, the consumption of food is allowed.

-Establishments and spaces dedicated to recreational and chance activities, whose resolution granting the opening license has a capacity of more than 30 people, as well as in those others in which, regardless of their capacity, the consumption of food is allowed.

-Events and celebrations with concentration of people and music festivals attended by more than 500 people, as well as in those others in which, regardless of their capacity, the consumption of food or drink is allowed.

Sporting events attended by more than 500 people, as well as in those others in which, regardless of their capacity, the consumption of food or drink is allowed.

-Public shows attended by more than 500 people, as well as those in which, regardless of their capacity, the consumption of food or drink is allowed.

-Cultural activities in cinemas, theaters, auditoriums and similar, whose resolution granting the opening license has a capacity of more than 50 people, as well as in those others in which, regardless of their capacity, the consumption of food or drink.

-Gym and similar equipment.

-Establishments and health centers for visits to admitted patients, as well as to accompany users to consultation, diagnostic tests, cures or treatment, except in the cases of minors, disabled, dependents or people whose health circumstances or any other type require them, at the discretion of the health personnel of the center or establishment.

-Residential or day social-health establishments, for visits and people outside the institution.

The remaining establishments, facilities or activities on the islands that are in health alert levels 3 and 4 may continue to apply the requirement of the covid certificate on a voluntary basis and benefit from the schedules, capacity and number of people per group of the lower level, They are considered to be places with a lower risk of transmission, such as shops, hairdressers and transport, among others, where users remain using the mask.

Voluntary Covid Certificate for the islands in levels 1 and 2

The Ministry of Health recalls that the Order of the Minister of Health of November 29, also ratified by the TSJC, which establishes the use of the covid certificate on a voluntary basis in establishments and activities subject to capacity and time limits. The implementation of the certificate in the establishments allows them to apply measures of a lower level than that of the island in question.

  • With the entry into force of the mandatory certificate, the establishments and activities of the islands in levels 3 and 4 included in the Departmental Order of December 22, ratified by the TSJC, will not be able to benefit from applying measures of the lower level as was happening when the use of the covid certificate was maintained as a volunteer

  • In these establishments the capacity set in Decree Law 11/2021 for the corresponding alert level will be applied, closing at 1:00 am and maximum groups of 6 people, except cohabitants
