Prince William and Kate Middleton released their Christmas card photo for 2021 featuring the couple with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. And if you look closely, there are several small details in the photo that you might have missed…
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge delighted royal fans when they shared the gorgeous family photo that features on their 2021 Christmas card.
The holiday snap shows proud parents Prince William and Kate alongside their young children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
The shot, which has a sun-kissed backdrop, sees a beaming Kate and William with George and Charlotte sitting either side of their parents. Louis sits cross-legged in front of his mum.
Dressed casually, Kate wears a flowing khaki dress, William looks relaxed in shorts, George opts for a camouflage top, Charlotte dons a blue checked dress while Louis looks cute in a striped polo top.
But there are several details hiding in the photo that you might have missed – here we reveal them…
The meaningful location

It’s easy to see that the beautiful photo was not snapped in the UK judging by the desert-like backdrop and the family’s glowing sun-kissed skin.
And it was revealed by Kensington Palace the image was actually taken in Jordan on a private family holiday.
Jordan is of particular importance to Kate because she lived there for two years between 1984 and 1986.
She was in the Middle Eastern country with her family while her dad, Michael, worked for British Airways.
In 2018 William visited Jordan as part of the five-day tour of the Middle East, but Kate had to miss the trip as she was on maternity leave having just welcomed Prince Louis.
He said Kate was “very upset” to miss the visit as she was keen to return to the area.

Kate looks gorgeous in the family photo in her flowing khaki dress with her long-wavy hair falling around her shoulders.
But it you look closely, you can see her unusual necklace, where the charm is a dallah – a traditional Arabic coffee pot.
And it’s not the first time she’s been spotted in the necklace. She wore it in 2005, six years before her marriage to William while attending the Festival of British Eventing in Gatcombe Park, Gloucestershire.
Louis’ familiar top
If Prince Louis’ top in the photo looks familiar, that’s because it is.
It seems his older brother Prince George wore the exact same Rachel Riley striped polo shirt on a visit to Taronga Zoo in Sydney in 2014.
However, it was not a hand-me-down from George, given when he wore it, he was only nine months old, while Louis is now three.
Charlotte’s High Street dress
Kate is well-known for loving a High Street bargain and not spending a fortune on her children’s clothes.
And it appears this is still the case as Princess Charlotte’s stunning dress is an affordable £26 from Mango.

Now aged eight, Prince George is likely to have a little bit more control over this wardrobe than his younger brother and sister.
In the photo, George has opted to wear a camo polo shirt with shorts similar to his dad’s Prince William.
And it’s not the first time George has worn the print for an official photo – in one of his seventh birthday portraits, he wears a camouflage T-shirt. Could it be becoming a favourite print of the young prince?
Only the very eagle-eyed will spot this detail – that Charlotte and Louis are wearing matching shoes.
The navy plimsolls cost £28 and are from children’s clothing retailer Trotters.
And it seems the trainers are a favourite of the Cambridge children as George has worn the same style previously while Charlotte donned them for one of her fourth birthday portraits.
Rare tender touch
In another small detail on the photo, you can see both William and Kate placing a tender hand on each other’s knees.
The couple don’t usually take part in public displays of affection.
But recently, the couple have shown their more romantic sides.
