Facua denounces before the Autonomous Communities 230 gas stations for raising prices





Facua has presented before the consumption authorities of thirteen autonomous communities Complaints against 230 gas stations that raised prices of fuel on April 1, the day that the discounts of 20 cents approved for the next three months by the Government came into force, due to “the lack of response from the Ministry of Consumption”.

The association, which reported these events to the department headed by Alberto Garzón on April 6, has brought the situation to the attention of the regional consumer protection authorities, which they have sanctioning powers.

The complaints have been filed with the general directorates, agencies and consumer institutes of Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, Euskadi, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid, Murcia and Navarra. Toledo, Valencia and Seville are the provinces with the most reported service stationsFacua has reported in a statement.

The association has also denounced the events before the eight autonomous competition agencies with sanctioning powers: Andalusia, Aragon, Catalonia, Euskadi, Extremadura, Galicia, Castilla y León and the Valencian Community; and on April 6, he brought the increases to the attention of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs and the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC).

In addition to determining whether each reported gas station should be sanctioned, Facua also considers it necessary to investigate whether in certain provinces there have been agreements to apply increases in parallel.

Increments of at least 5 cents

On the morning of April 1, the reported service stations applied increases of at least 5 cents, which is the cut in margins that the sector has to contributeas established by Royal Decree-Law 6/2022, of March 29, which adopts urgent measures within the framework of the National Plan to respond to the economic and social consequences of the war in Ukraine.

Thus, 208 of the more than 5,000 gas stations that updated their prices and communicated them to the Ministry for the Ecological Transition on the morning of April 1 applied increases of 5 cents or more in diesel prices, and in terms of gasoline 95 the increase of 5 cents or more occurred at 171 service stations.

Gas stations will use the fuel discount

The association obtained the data on the mornings of March 31 and April 1 through the Geoportal website, belonging to the aforementioned ministry.

Andalusia, the region with the most reported stations

By communities, Andalusia is the region with the highest number of reported stations, 65; Castilla-La Mancha occupies the second position, with 46 gas stations; Extremadura, with 21 gas stations; Catalonia, with 18; Murcia, ten; Aragon 10; six in the Community of Madrid and four in Navarra and Galicia, and one in Euskadi and another in the Principality of Asturias.

Of the 230 reported service stations, 26 belong to Repsol; followed by ES Carburantes, with 12; Farruco SA, with 10; followed by Cepsa, with 8 gas stations; Galp with 7; MaxOil with 6; and BP with 4, among others.
