Emmerdale Viewers Discover Marcus Dean’s Sinister Plot Twist, Saying He’s ‘Not Pierce’s Son’

Last night, Emmerdale fans witnessed the moment new character Marcus Dean, the apparent son of villain Pierce Harris, arrives in town and some already think they’ve figured him out.

On Thursday night’s episode, Marcus was seen introducing himself to Pierce’s ex-wife, Rhona Goskirk, and his partner, Vanessa Woodfield.

Avid viewers of the show will recall that Pierce was sent to prison for raping his wife Rhona on their wedding day, before returning to town years later in 2020, The Mirror writes.

Pierce then killed Rhona’s boyfriend, Graham Foster, before kidnapping Vanessa and little Johnny, as well as attacking Kim Tate, all as part of his plan to get Rhona to leave with him.

But history repeated itself and he was caught and sent to prison again, which is why Rhona was stunned this week when he contacted her out of the blue two years later.

In a letter, Pierce confirmed that he was seriously ill and dying, later backed up by the prison when Rhona called them.

As Rhona continued reading, she found out that Pierce had a secret son, Marcus, and he wanted her to track him down so they could meet before he died.

Rhona tried to find Marcus, but then changed her mind as it was too late and Marcus showed up in town.

Marcus revealed all about his history with Pierce and his disgust when he found out what his estranged father had done.

She explained that her father and mother often argued, Pierce would often hear her yell at him, and while he didn’t go into detail, it seemed like he was abusive and controlling towards her.

Events led his wife to take Marcus, who was five at the time, to live with a friend named Linda.

Marcus explained that when they got back from Linda’s house, Pierce was gone and they never saw him again.

Years later, Marcus learned of his father’s crime on the news and claimed that he had not seen or heard of it until Rhona’s call.

He decided he wanted to see Pierce to confront him about everything before he died, but asked a shocked Rhona to go with him because he couldn’t do it alone.

Rhona was clearly torn, hoping she would never see Pierce again, but viewers feared that she was being set up and that Marcus was involved.

Viewers questioned whether maybe Marcus wasn’t really Pierce’s son and was involved in Pierce’s plan to get Rhona into prison, while others believed he was up to something.

On Twitter, a fan wrote: “He already saw his dad and his dad sent him for her to see [him].”

Another said: “So… are we going to have a scene at the end of Marcus on the phone with someone acting cool suss? Any bets?”

A third added: “That Marcus is a set up…so obvious Pierce set her up to get her to visit! So Ovs!”

Meanwhile, another fan commented, “I don’t trust this Marcus what’s-his-name?”

A fifth viewer tweeted: “I don’t believe this Marcus is Pierce’s son, at no time has he been mentioned to her. And someone approaching Rhona with a request is a bit of a suss.”

Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 7pm on ITV, with a bonus episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
