Police have named the victims of a grisly double murder today with permission from their family as a man was arrested.

Clive Warrington, 67, and Valerie Warrington, 73, were found with stab wounds just 15 miles apart as police said the pair had previously been married but were divorced at the time of their deaths.

Gloucestershire Police were called to a property in Cheltenham at about 6.25am this morning following reports of a serious assault.

When they arrived they found builder Clive with stab wounds.

He was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

Police then raced to a property 15 miles away in Bourton-on-the-Water following concerns about the welfare of a second person.

At that location, officers found the body of ex-wife Valerie.

Superintendent Roddy Gosden said officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.

Neighbors in both locations reacted with shock at the grisly murders last night.

A man in his fifties who lives in the flat in Cheltenham above the deceased said: “I’m devastated – the man who died has been my best friend for the last ten years.”

In Bourton-on-the-Water a neighbor of Valerie told The Mirror: “Val was such a lovely little lady to think someone would do that to her is revolting, what is this world coming to when something like that can happen round here. ”
