The cumulative incidence continues to rise in almost all territories, with the sole exception of Castilla-La Mancha. Since the last report, it grows 17 points, to 234.03 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The highest rise was recorded in Aragon (+32 points), from the previous day at high risk. At very high risk is Navarra, which is close to 700 cases of incidence rate, and the Basque Country (552), which as of this Friday declares a state of health emergency. The rest of the communities are at medium risk.
The Ministry of Health and the communities have analyzed this Thursday in Córdoba the state of the pandemic, in a meeting in which the new strategies for Digital Health and Mental Health. This is the second face-to-face meeting held by Minister Carolina Darias and the 17 councilors so far this year.
Meanwhile, the world watches with caution evolution of the omicron variant, detected in South Africa and travel restrictions are extended. Spain has already detected five cases of the variant and there is already community transmission in Madrid.
The European Commission considers that the time has come to discuss the advisability of making vaccination against COVID-19 mandatory given that only 70% of the total European population is fully immunized.
