Coronation Street fans will be pleased to know that there’s a 60-minute installation of the ITV soap airing on Sunday night at 8pm after viewers missed out earlier this month due to football coverage
Coronation Street fans are in for a treat tonight as ITV are airing a special hour-long episode.
The explosive 60-minute installation will start at 8pm and promises plenty of more drama as Lydia Chambers (Rebecca Ryan) continues her quest to take down Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), while he tries to convince the police that she’s trying to frame him.
Elsewhere, Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) falls off the wagon and turns to drugs to block out her pain, while her husband Kevin Webster makes a surprise return home.
Also, Roy Cropper finds young Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) a new chess opponent while Kelly Neelan confides in Simon about caring for Laura.
Starting next week there’s a new schedule for all three soaps as Emmerdale will start clashing with EastEnders due to the changes.
Instead of it’s usual 7pm slot, ITV’s Emmerdale will now be on at 7:30pm – at the exact same time as the Walford-based soap over on BBC One.
As well as tonight’s episode, Corrie fans will also get another hour-long installation on Monday evening as well starting at 8pm.
And going forward, Coronation Street will be moving to 8pm for an uninterrupted hour-long episode on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Opening up about the schedule switch-up, John Whiston, ITV’s Managing Director of Continuing Drama said: “With Coronation Street bursting at the seams with fantastic story and character, the new format gives the show a brilliant new canvas on which to shine.
“And Emmerdale will do what it does best in this new time slot where viewers can continue to enjoy the dramatic goings on in the Dales.”
ITV’s Managing Director of Media and Entertainment, Kevin Lygo added: “The nation’s two most popular continuing dramas, Coronation Street and Emmerdale, are fundamental to the success of ITV, and we know that, as with all dramas, viewers increasingly watch them whenever, and however they choose.
“The new scheduling means that viewers can watch them live on TV in one go in a continuous soap fix, as well as on ITV Hub where they are regularly in the most watched shows every month.”
Coronation Street airs tonight at 8pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
