With this, the Community of Madrid separates itself, with respect to this age group in particular, from the other autonomous communities, although it maintains quarantines for students over 12 years old who have been contacted by a positive, who they will quarantine for the seven days after the last encounter with the confirmed case.

Thus, he recalled that close contact is considered to be those belonging to a group of stable coexistence or students, teachers or other workers of an educational center who have been less than two meters away for more than 15 minutes without wearing the mask up and in a closed place.

Handling of possible positive cases

In an annex addressed to families, it is indicated that if the student who has been considered close contact “can continue to go to the center and carry out the usual activities, taking precautionary measures and monitoring the appearance of symptoms.” These symptom they are fever, cough or shortness of breath or others such as alteration of taste, smell, muscle aches, diarrhea, chest pain or headache.

The instructions that have been sent to the colleges and institutes of the region also include how they should act in a possible positive case. Before a person who develops symptoms of COVID-19 in the educational centers, a surgical mask will be placed, they will be taken to a separate space and the Covid coordinator will be contacted.

The companion of the suspected case will have to wear an FFP2 mask, as well as a face shield and a disposable gown if the person with symptoms does not wear a mask because they are under six years of age or have respiratory problems.

In the case of students they will contact their families to come pick you up and call your primary care center. The workers of the center with symptoms will have to go home and contact the corresponding health center by phone.
