C&L Elections | Mañueco insists that he will negotiate with “everyone”

The PP candidate for the Presidency of the Junta de Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, has insisted this Monday that will negotiate “with all political formations”from the PSOE to Por Ávila, after the ‘popular’ have proclaimed themselves winners of the electoral appointment in which they have obtained 31 seats and have not ruled out a grand coalition with the PSOE, a possibility that other formations claim in order that Vox does not enter the institutions after firing up to 13 prosecutors and being key in the formation of government.

“We are going to start the negotiation with the different political formations. We will start with the PSOE, then we will talk with Vox, then with the provincial forces of León and Soria and then with the parties with one seat, which are United We Can, Citizens and Por Ávila” , pointed out the acting president of the Board in an interview on RNE’s Las Mañanas, where has once again supported the early call for elections because “the alternative was a government supported by a motion of censure and supported by turncoats.” “Of course he would dissolve the Cortes again,” she said.

Mañueco has recognized that “would have liked to have as much support as possible“, because despite focusing his campaign on obtaining a sufficient majority in order to govern alone, he has only won two prosecutors compared to 2019 and has lost more than 50,000 votes, although he believes that Now we have to attend to what the people of Castilla y León have said at the polls. “First: a government of the PP. And second: that the PP has to lead the dialogue with all the forces of the parliamentary arc”, he stressed.

Bet on talking about “problems” before “charges”

The leader of the PP has not gone into assessing whether they would form a hypothetical government with Vox, which has added 12 seats in these elections and is the third force. “I think that, at this time, what the people of Castilla y León have asked us is that we talk about their problems and their solutions, not about the distribution of seats,” Mañueco emphasized. In his opinion, “it would be advisable to talk about economic policy, how to negotiate the CAP or how to manage public services after the pandemic.”It seems to me more important than the distribution of responsibilities“, he pointed out.

Asked about a possible “grand coalition” with the PSOE, the ‘popular’ candidate has not ruled it out. “Let’s see what will the PSOE has. It has had a significant loss of seats,” Mañueco stressed about the seven attorneys left by the Socialists after the elections, going from 35 to 28 seats. “Over the next few days we will be reporting,” he stressed, while he has promised to do so “with transparency.”

And he has rejected the electoral repetition, a scenario that in his opinion would be to act “with a sovereign foolishness“. “The people of Castilla y León have asked us to dialogue, to have a government, to manage. And that is what I am going to do,” he concluded.
