Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, has given a candid interview, where she talked about the exciting gifts she bought for some of her grandchildren this Christmas and her favourite childhood book
It’s well-known that the Duchess of Cornwall is an avid reader who loves nothing more than curling up with a good book.
And it appears Camilla’s grandchildren are following in her footsteps as she let slip she bought them some very special gifts for Christmas.
Camilla has two children, Laura Lopes and Tom Parker Bowles, from her first marriage to Andrew Parker Bowles.
Between them, they have five children with Laura mum to Eliza, and twins Gus and Louis and Tom a dad to Lola and Freddy.
And speaking in a candid chat on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Camilla revealed the books she had bought some of her older grandchildren as Christmas gifts.
She explained: “I have a granddaughter that’s very into Philip Pullman and she’s been through His Dark Materials so I think I got her La Belle Sauvage and the twin boys, one I got Dracula and the other I put onto Lord of the Rings…so those are the children’s books.”
Meanwhile, Camilla also gave an insight into the novel she loved reading as a child.

She added: “In those days I was a sort of pony-mad child, and I thought of very little else apart from horses and ponies and charging about on them, so I think Black Beauty was the first book that stuck in my mind.
“If you learn to read, however difficult your life is at the time, you can pick up a book and you can escape.
“You can laugh, you can cry, it just takes you out of the real world and it gives you a different dimension to life.”
A patron of a number of literacy charities, Camilla recently launched the Duchess of Cornwall’s Reading Room on Instagram for book lovers of all ages and abilities.
Camilla spent Christmas Day with the Queen and her husband Prince Charles at Windsor Castle.
It came after the usual big royal family Christmas gathering at Sandringham was cancelled this year due to soaring Covid cases.
Now, it’s believed that Charles and Camilla will see in the new year in Scotland after being spotted at Aberdeen Airport this afternoon.
It is thought they were headed to Birkhall, Charles’s retreat on the Balmoral estate in the Scottish Highlands.
