BBC The Apprentice viewers were stunned after a huge blunder was called “the worst flop” on the show

Viewers of The Apprentice gasped Thursday night after witnessing a huge blunder.

The BBC One show returned for the fourth episode, where 12 of the original 16 candidates remain in the running for Lord Alan Sugar’s £250,000 investment.

During last week’s show, the entrepreneurs were divided into two mixed teams and tasked with creating and marketing their own non-alcoholic drink.

This week, Lord Sugar summoned the candidates to the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich for briefing.

Before announcing the next challenge, Lord Sugar asked 27-year-old Alex Short to move to the opposing team to “even them up” after Conor Gilsenan was sacked and Shama Amin left for medical reasons.

The billionaire then announced that the candidates would enter the choppy waters of the fishing industry, tasked with catching the catch of the day and creating a fish dish to sell to the public.

They would also be selling to a major corporate client, with the team that made the highest overall profit poised to win.

But in fact, it was a mistake by Alex Short’s new team called ‘Infinity’ that caused the team to lose.

After Alex stepped into the role of project manager, the team decided to make crab their catch of the day.

While three of his teammates set sail in Cornwall to catch their main course, Alex, Kathryn Burn and Akshay Thakrar stayed behind in London to try to convince the corporate client to buy their seafood.

But it was here that Alex and his co-vendors made a big mistake, forgetting to offer their catch of the day, crab, to the customer.

Team Infinity forgot to release their catch of the day

After leaving the meeting, Baroness Karren Brady, adviser to Lord Sugar, who was keeping an eye on the Infinity team, said: “They came here to a five-star hotel to sell fish, but they forgot to offer their catch of the day, their crab.”

“What the hell were they thinking?”

And viewers were also stunned that the candidates forgot such an important detail.

“Did you forget to mention the crab you had the underwater team catch on a boat in the middle of nowhere?” one viewer wrote.

“You really forgot to mention the crab, you lost in the first 20 minutes,” @flyguyrichards said.

“This team has already lost 70kg of crab and they forgot to offer it to the corporate client?” questioned another.

Alex Short was project manager on the failed task

Later in the boardroom, Lord Alan Sugar called this mistake the “worst flop ever”.

“This is without a doubt the worst flop I have ever seen in this boardroom,” said Lord Sugar.

I sent you to get the catch of the day and you didn’t sell it.

Team Infinity were the losers of this task as they had the least profit and many costly mistakes.

As a result, this caused project manager Alex to be the last candidate fired by Lord Sugar.

There are only 11 candidates left to compete for the life-changing investment in your business.
