In the blink of an eye, the end of year festivities have come to an end and many will now be staring down the barrel of a cold January and the dreaded return to work.
The luxury of the New Year bank holiday is of course a welcome bonus, but it won’t stop most looking ahead to when their next bit of government-sponsored holiday is.
The good news is that, including January 3, 2022 is set to give us nine days of bank holiday in England. The bad news is that they are rather spread out and we have a little while to wait until the next one.

It’s a historic year in the UK because the Queen will be celebrating her Platinum Jubilee in 2022 – meaning the whole country gets a day off on June 3 to mark her 70 years as ruler.
Queen Elizabeth II is due to become the first British monarch to reach the milestone, having been crowned in 1952, taking over from Queen Victoria who reigned for 63 years and seven months.
The Queen’s celebrations will be the “biggest event the UK has ever seen” according to organisers, featuring a four-day weekend with thousands of performers, street parties and plenty of pomp and pageantry.
And you could even use these bank holidays strategically to book a whopping 62 days off work using just 26 days of your annual leave.
