Aragonès proclaims its commitment to the full freedom of “prisoners and exiles”





The president of the Generalitat has asked his new government to work to resolve the conflict “through the exercise of the right of self-determination.”

The recently invested president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, has proclaimed this Wednesday the commitment of his Government to the “full freedom” of the “prisoners and exiles” independentistas and with the objective of the independence of Catalonia.

This was stated in his speech at the act of inauguration of the 14 new councilors of the Government, in a ceremony held at the Palau de la Generalitat.

Unlike his inauguration speech as president on Monday, this time Aragonès has included a reference to his “predecessors” in the Government who are now “in jail and in exile” having been “retaliated” for having carried out the 1-O referendum.

The new consellers, the president has asked them “to work tirelessly” to build “a future with well-being for all” but also “to address the conflict with the State through the exercise of the right of self-determination and amnesty“.

Eight women and six men in the new Government

Women are the majority in the new Catalan government (eight compared to six), according to Aragonès himself.
