The municipal government of PP and Citizens has obtained this Monday the approval in the extraordinary commission of Finance of the four councilors that make up the Mixed Group to approve the Budget project for 2022 of the city of Madrid. Thus, the four Carmen councilors have given ‘yes’ to the text of the budget project approved by the Governing Board. Except for PP and Cs, the rest of the groups (Vox, PSOE, Más Madrid) have voted against it.
The partial amendments of the groups (23 of Recupera Madrid, 207 of PSOE, 218 of Más Madrid and 16 of PP and Cs) have not prospered, which despite this will be debated in the next Plenary of Budgets.
This commission was initially convened last Tuesday, December 21, suspended in extremis, minutes after it began, while negotiations between the Mixed Group and the municipal government continued. It was postponed to last Thursday, December 23 and, again, the date was changed.
All this after Almeida and the leader of Vox in Cibeles, Javier Ortega Smith, officiated their break. “That it goes beautiful, with Vox it does not count”, was the message with which Ortega Smith made it clear that he would not negotiate the public accounts when accusing the councilman of “lying” for “keeping Madrid Central”.
The delegate of the Treasury, Engracia Hidalgo, affirmed that “it is important to exercise generosity to find those meeting points” and reiterated that the Government “under no circumstances is going to make a reform that entails a tax increase.” Thus, he put the accent on the demand of the Mixed, to subsidize the IBI to the properties based on their equity value, not a linear reduction.
In Recupera Madrid they clarified that the budget negotiations were not broken but entrenched, “with some obstacle” that “can be saved” being the ideal scenario for them to extend the budget “one month”.
“We continue with our hand out. We want budgets that save those nominative grants, which are for disadvantaged people, for gender violence, for families with difficulties. We want a budget that saves those European funds, so we are open to continue negotiating “, the spokeswoman for the Mixed Group, Marta Higueras, told the press.
