Adorable dogs bonding with babies

Everyone knows that dogs are man’s best friend – and these pups prove that it’s never too early to get started on that special bond.

From offering up toys to their owner’s newborn, to attempting a game of fetch with the newest addition to the household, and even mucking in with nappy duties, these loving dogs are worth their weight in gold.

The evident love that dogs often have for the youngest family members is a precious sight to behold, and often sees the babies grow into toddlers who are inseparable from their canine companions.

Here are five dogs who show just how wholesome that friendship can be.

Nanny duties

Proving that it’s never too early to start preparing for the arrival of a new baby, this dedicated dog did her bit by stepping up for nanny duties.

The adorable TikTok clip from @wrigleyandlulu shows the helpful pup practising for a very important task – bringing her owner new nappies when it’s changing time.

Her owner puts her through rehearsals before the baby arrives by training her to bring a clean nappy over when she holds out her hand.

And the dutiful dog smashes it when she’s put to the test for real, as the video cuts to her trotting over, nappy in mouth, to where her owner sits with the new baby.

Love at first sight

Bringing a new baby home is always exciting – and nobody is as delighted to meet the newest member of the family as Luna, as reported by The Express .

The pup’s tail thumps with delight the second that her owner brings their baby boy through the door in a car seat, and she immediately dashes over to greet her new friend with an inspecting sniff.

Deciding that she’s found her new best friend, the American bulldog and cane corso cross then bounds over to her toy box and plucks her favourites out to eagerly offer them up to the baby as a welcoming present.

The cute TikTok clip by @ziveli_veselo goes on to show Luna refusing to leave the baby’s side, fawning over him by sniffing his tiny feet. The affectionate pup can’t help but sneakily plant a slobbery kiss on her young friend’s cheek.

Starting them early

Dogs can often find the perfect playmates in their owner’s kids – but German Shepherd Brody might be getting just a little too ambitious in his determined attempts to get his owner’s son to play with him.

Impatient Brody just wants his new friend to play fetch with him – the only problem is that said friend is just two months old.

The hilarious clip posted on TikTok by @keepingupwiththekokals sees the exasperated dog staring pointedly at the ball he’s placed at the tiny baby’s feet, expecting him to throw it any second.

“Brody, we have been over this,” his owner patiently explains, as the unimpressed pup throws her a desperate look. “He’s too young!”

Partners in crime

Parents should watch out when it comes to letting their baby spend quality time with their dog – the pair may just end up becoming thick as thieves, like Sofia and Baz .

Baby Sofia is determined to share her highchair snack with her best friend, Belgian Malinois cross Baz – and the sassy toddler doesn’t care what her mum has to say about the matter.

In the TikTok clip from @sofia.and.baz, the baby has a small tantrum when her mother tells her not to give a piece of her ham to Baz, who is waiting patiently beside the highchair. But Sofia’s defeat doesn’t last long.

Composing herself, she quickly tears off a smaller slice of ham and then throws her mum the ultimate defiant glare as she holds the morsel out to Baz, who wastes no time in gobbling it up.

“Don’t go that way!”

The bond between a baby and a dog often continues through to childhood – and loving dogs can forgive even the bossiest of toddlers, as obedient Benji shows .

The funny clip from TikTok user @karaleapior shows toddler Frankie taking dog training efforts very seriously, while patient pup Benji seems to be a bit confused by his new master’s instructions.

Frankie can be heard lisping adorable pet names for her dog, including “my sweet baby” and “little snakey” as she tries to encourage him to go in a different direction, grinning from ear to ear when Benji finally turns around.
