Kate Middleton reportedly struggled with confidence after joining the prestigious Marlborough College as a teenager, but by the end of her time there, it’s said that ‘every boy in the school’ fancied her
The Duchess of Cambridge is often regarded as one of the best-dressed royals as well as being full of poise and elegance.
But that wasn’t always the case for Kate, who celebrates her 40th birthday tomorrow.
As a teenager, she is said to have been shy and low in confidence after experiencing a tough time at school.
When she was 14, she left that school and went to the prestigious £12,000-a-year Malborough College in 1996.
School pal Gemma Williamson previously told the Daily Mail: “Apparently she had been bullied very badly and she certainly looked thin and pale. She had very little confidence.”
However, at Marlborough, she sought solace in playing sports and then experienced a sudden turnaround that left “every boy in the school” rather flustered.
And that turnaround is said to have come when Kate returned from the summer break aged 16.
Gemma revealed that, after impressing school pals playing hockey and going cross-country running, the future duchess became “an absolute beauty” and “every boy in the school fancied her rotten”.

Her former teacher, Denise Alford, also revealed that Kate was able to transform her look after losing one key thing – her childhood braces.
“Pippa was a tomboy but Kate had lost her braces and looked stunning,” she told the Mail.
“She was apparently top of the ‘Fit List’ which boys would sometimes pin on the walls.”

When Kate left Marlborough with three A-Levels, she embarked on a gap year before deciding to attend St Andrews University, where she met her future husband, Prince William.
There Kate’s self-confidence famously won over William when she wore a see-through dress at a fashion show.
In 2002, the then 19-year-old prince reportedly spent £200 for a front-row ticket for the charity fashion show his future wife featured in.
Here he saw Kate walking the catwalk in a see-through lace dress revealing her black underwear underneath.
The duchess is said to have made the transformation from William’s friend to his love interest after he saw her in the fashion show and said: “Wow, Kate’s hot.”
That started their romance, and now 20 years on the pair have been married for almost 11 years and have three gorgeous children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
