Art Club, ran by Professor Jan Moore, is a place open to all. Moore said Art Club can be known as a safe place or a “place to get away from the weight of the world”. The meetings are held at 2:45 p.m. every Wednesday in the Fine Arts Building room FA10.

There are no specific guidelines to how the meetings will go – participants are just asked to show up and bring their artistic side.

“Art Club is a place where I can go relax and make art or work on homework,” sophomore Erica Wheeler said. “It gives me the opportunity to carve out time for fun projects I wouldn’t have started otherwise.”

Moore and others are there to help guide students along and find their art niche. The options are limitless, between paint, charcoal, graphite, pastel, thread, and so many other mediums, anyone can find what suites them best.

“You do not have to consider yourself an artist to be a member, you just have to have a joy in creating,” Moore said.

In the spring, there is an art walk planned to show off the pieces of work members of the Art Club did, as well as work from students in from surrounding high schools, and show how much growth has taken place between the beginning of the semester to then. Some of the art may even be for sale. put a price on, for someone else to purchase.
