The Morley Theatre, located on Main St in Borger, was bought by Mitchell Theatres back in May of this year. They have closed the theatre down temporarily for renovations to change the overall look. The renovation list includes; the concession stand, flooring, seating areas as well as the ticket booth to be fixed and updated.

Cami Amorella, Assistant Manager, said that the theatre is scheduled to reopen on November 3.

“The renovations should make your viewing experience better for all to enjoy,” Amorella said.

The prices will be $7 for adults, $5 for children and $6 for students with a valid student ID. The plan is for the renovations to bring back the 1940s era vibe but with a new modern feel.

Mitchell Theatres is also adding a few new things to help entertain the community like an arcade room, party room, and a lounge area. In the party room groups can reserve the room for two hours at a time for anything ranging from birthday parties to get-togethers. In the lounge area, customers will be able to enjoy wine, beer or a cocktail before they enter a movie.

They have updated the showcases for movies being shown and what movies are to come. The balcony has been updated as well.

General Manager Bryan Bailey said that after renovations are done they will have added extra wide row spacing with the new high back leather seats.

There will be a 7.1 surround sound in all auditoriums. In the grand auditorium there will be a three-story tall curved screen and it will be the biggest screen in the panhandle.

“We feel that we will be able to bring some of the glory and excitement back into our town of Borger,” Bailey said.

Student Kelsey Gray said she is happy that Mitchell Theatres chose to redo the Morley instead of closing the doors.

“I am excited to be able to go out for a family night or even let my daughter go with her friends when she is older, so she can make memories at the historic Morley as I did,” Gray said.
