The staff at the ARC, the Library, and Student Central offer assistance for students who need help.

Jason Price, associate dean of academic support services, oversees the Library. The Library offers books, magazines, newspapers, videos/DVDs, computers for student use, Scantrons for $.25 each, and mail for students who stay on campus.

Student Central is where incoming freshmen and transfer students get help registering for their first semester. Student Central Director Krista Wilson and Student Central Specialist Judy Brown provide help in registering students for the upcoming semesters.

“We answer basic questions regarding financial aid, take payments, and issue student IDs,” Wilson said.

The hours for both the Library and Student Central are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday.

“When you have no idea what you are doing, [Student Central and ARC] are always there to help you with anything,” student T.J. Whiteley said.

The ARC, which stands for Academic Readiness Center, is overseen by writing coach Derrick Cummings. It is located across the street from the Library and Cafeteria. The ARC offers several services, including access to computers. Private tutoring and test proctoring are also available. The hours for the ARC are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Cummings has employed many students to tutor within the ARC.

“All of [the tutors] are passionate and dedicated to helping students succeed,” Cummings said.
